Asian American Cultural Center
About the Center
History:

The Asian American Cultural Center came into being in 1999 to respond to the needs of a growing population of Asian American and Asian students at Rutgers University. The Center officially started its operations with a founding director, Dr. To-Thi Bosacchi, in March 2000.

Mission:

Through its activities and programs, the Center documents and disseminates information about the artistic, scientific, social, and political contributions of Asian and Asian American people, with a focus on expanding the multicultural and intercultural understanding among Rutgers University’s undergraduate students, and providing a supportive environment for Asian and Asian American students.

Activities:

The Center works closely with Asian American student organizations and collaborates with Rutgers academic units and administrative offices as well as Asian community-based organizations in the development of cultural programs, curriculum enrichment and other activities for the entire Rutgers community.

Specific activities and programs are publicized in the Center’s calendar and campus publications. Some typical programs sponsored by the Center include the annual Youth Diversity Conference, musical performances, guest speakers, and Asian-Pacific Heritage Month Celebration.

The Center’s activities evolve by need and student participation in program planning is always welcome.

Operation Structure:

The Center's Acting Director, Ji H. Baek, supervises the program activities to carry out the Center's mission and vision.

Linda Fu, the center’s Administrative assistant, assists in the center's operations, coordination of events, and also serves as a liaison with students and student organizations.
